A Conservative Case for High-Speed Rail
For my final paper in my Contemporary American Politics class, I wrote a position paper advocating for conservatives to support the construction and implementation of high-speed rail throughout the United States. I strongly believe that this is a very important issue for our overall progress and standing as a nation, and I think that there are many legitimate reasons conservatives should support...

Those of you who have not explored Brooklyn owe it to yourselves to do it. It is one of the most interesting parts of the city, where each neighborhood is so unique and different from its surrounding ones. Dumbo is a great neighborhood that has been in transition for years and has some of the best views of the East River and Lower Manhattan of anywhere in the city.

A man who lives a few houses down the street from me has taken up the habit of playing trumpet on his porch every evening at around this time. My neighborhood is relatively quiet, allowing you to hear it from blocks away. Every evening as I head home, the trumpet gets louder the closer I get to my apartment.
I love this city.
I’m sitting in Starbucks, trying desperately to finish a final project so I can begin on yet another final project. It’s a beautiful and sunny day in New Orleans, yet nothing besides my “Rain” playlist on Shuffle seems to work for me currently. Now, nine songs in, comes Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. For so many reasons, this song is one of my all time favorites (as is its...

This makes me sad……
“Thus in the end the health care drama played out almost entirely within the Democratic Party. It was a multistage process.
Stage one involved the election campaign of a magnetic, personable intellectual named Barack Obama who corralled millions of voters into his camp by promising health care reform with a public option that would reduce costs without being an open giveaway to the drug and...
Both the Democrats and Republicans in Congress need to get over themselves. Shutting down the federal government to prove a point over whether this minuscule percentage of the budget should or should not be cut is not responsible. Do they really think that Americans would rather have party leaders stand their ground than get their Social Security checks, Medicare benefits, pay our soldiers and...

As I mentioned in the passed, studio is a game and the good students know how to play it. For me, like most, I’ve been on both sides. I started off struggling to get that B, took a year off (personal reasons), came back knowing how to play and became a A student by doing less work. Here is what I…
Things I Learned This Mardi Gras
As in years past, Mardi Gras has been a surreal and magical experience. The atmosphere in New Orleans is different for a week and a half in a way that is very hard to explain. This year’s Mardi Gras has offered me some new pieces of insight.
Nothing will come close to Lombardi Gras
Mardi Gras last year came the week after the Saints won the Super Bowl for the first time. The ensuing two...
